The Duck Police Department says technology and “good old-fashioned police work” helped lead to the arrest of a suspect in connection to a half-dozen break-ins reported around the area.
After a 35-day investigation led by Master Police Officer Joe Knight, Duck and Kitty Hawk officers served a search warrant at the home of 40-year-old Shawn Kenneth LaBlue on Angler Way in Kitty Hawk on March 24.
Inside LaBlue’s home and vehicle, officers found several items that were reported stolen, including electronics, jewelry, power tools and a suppressed rifle that had been reported stolen from a home in Currituck County.
Police say LaBlue was arrested immediately and charged with one count each of felony breaking and entering and larceny. Authorities say more charges will be announced, including five additional counts of felony breaking and entering and larceny, felony possession of stolen property and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
LaBlue is being held at the Dare County Detention Center in lieu of a $35,000 bond.
