NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — One person was injured after a car and a tractor-trailer crashed on the James River Bridge late Wednesday morning.

The Newport News Fire Department said in a Facebook post the driver of the car was trapped as a result of the crash and had to be rescued.

The post said the driver was transported to a local hospital with life support and was “reported to be stable.” The circumstances surrounding the crash were not immediately clear.
