PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – A driver killed in a crash on the interstate Friday night was not wearing a seatbelt at the time, according to Virginia State Police.
The crash happened on I-264 west of Victory Boulevard around 9:45 p.m.
Investigators say Jamal Al Britt, 22, of Portsmouth, was speeding down I-264 westbound when he swerved, over-corrected, ran off the road and hit a light pole.
Britt was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he died shortly after arrival.
