VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A driver was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after they were pinned inside their vehicle Wednesday night in a crash on N. Great Neck Road.
Virginia Beach police said the two-vehicle crash happened in the 1800 block of N. Great Neck at River Road around 5 p.m.
A 2014 Hyundai Accent was going east in the 2600 block of River Road, and tried to cross Great Neck to Upper Chelsea Reach. Police said passenger side of the Hyundai was hit by a 2006 Toyota Highlander that was going north on Great Neck.
Police said the Accent went off the road and hit a power pole.
Emergency crews were able to free the driver of the Hyundai, a female, from the wreckage and take them to a local hospital for treatment. Police said the driver is listed in critical condition.
The crash shut down northbound Great Neck Road at Falcon Crescent.
