Driver arrested after police chase through Chesapeake, Norfolk

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A chase that lasted nearly 40 minutes and spanned two cities overnight led to the arrest of one suspect.

Chesapeake police said officers tried to stop a vehicle with tags not on file with DMV around the intersection of Providence Road and Sparrow Road just before 12:30 a.m. The driver did not stop, leading to a chase that crossed into Norfolk.

A police spokesperson said the chase continued until the car reached a dead-end on Dayton Court just after 1 a.m. There was no crash and no injuries in the incident. 

The driver of the car has been arrested, police confirmed to 10 On Your Side. Two passengers inside the car were detained, but later released.

Police charged the driver, 33-year-old William Foster, with felony eluding, felony kidnapping and driving on a suspended license.
