JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — A dog groomer was charged with animal cruelty after a customer claimed his dog came back with serious injuries after using the service on Aug. 1.

James City County police say 30-year-old Kimberly Martin of York County is a groomer with a mobile grooming service in the area.

A customer who used the service claims his 13-year-old Pekingese poodle mix’s tongue was turning purple and he had trouble breathing about an hour after he was groomed.

The complainant says he took his dog to the vet, who determined the dog had broken ribs, bruising, a hemorrhage in one eye and a swollen larynx.
