Dispatch: State Police assist Chesapeake in vehicle pursuit that ends near High-Rise

News

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — State Police assisted Chesapeake Police Saturday morning after a driver refused to pull over in an attempted traffic stop.

At 8:48 a.m. Chesapeake Police attempted to make a traffic stop on that vehicle near the intersection of Sam’s Drive and Sams Circle. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and a slow-speed pursuit started.

They were able to end the chase around 9:15 a.m. just before the High-Rise Bridge going westbound after State Police deployed spike strips .

Virginia Department of Traffic later tweeted that traffic is stopped, but have since reopened one lane on the interstate. According to 511 Virginia, traffic is now resuming its normal patterns.

There were no reported injuries and the driver was transported by medics to a local hospital for precautionary purposes.

10 On Your Side is working to learn why the traffic stop was initiated and what charges the driver faces.
