CURRITUCK COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — After what has probably seemed like nonstop flooding, tourists are most likely ready to return to Currituck County.

County officials said Tuesday some areas of Corolla and the four-wheel drive area have standing water left over from the recent rainfall.

Vacationers are being asked to check to make sure their rental house is accessible.

Areas across northeast North Carolina were under flash flooding warnings as heavy rain fell on Sunday. Some resident saw flooding well before the weekend’s rains.

“We started flooding about 10 days ago,” said Manteo resident Kimberly Head.
