Police: Wanted man taken into custody after barricade situation at Hampton apartment

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A wanted man barricaded himself inside an apartment in Hampton on Tuesday afternoon, police said.

He was taken into custody without injury to officers or himself, police said around 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The Hampton Police Division’s SWAT team responded to the scene in the first block of Tide Mill Lane. They notified the public they were on scene around 1 p.m..

Police warned people in the area to expect high police presence.

No other details are currently available.
