Crews respond to James City County fire


JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) – Firefighters in James City County battled a structure fire early Wednesday morning.

Officials say they were called to Jolly Pond Road at 5:13 a.m. First units arrived on scene at 5:29 a.m.

Upon arrival, the fire was seen on the second floor of the residence. The fire was marked under control at 8:40 a.m. 

The fire destroyed a facility operated by the Little Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi, which provided long term care services. The residents were relocated to other facilities in the area.

A resident reported a minor injury and was evaluated at Riverside Doctors Hospital. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
