Crews respond to house fire in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Crews in Norfolk responded to a residential fire Wednesday afternoon.

Norfolk dispatch says a call was received about a fire on A Avenue around 12:10 p.m.

Crews arrived to find heavy fire coming from a three-story home. When firefighters entered the home through the front to search for victims, they were immediately met with intense heat and had to retreat due to the extreme conditions, according to Norfolk Fire-Rescue.

They did manage to rescue a dog from the fire, but it sustained serious burns. Animal Control transported him to be treated.

There were no other injuries reported. The fire is under investigation.
