Council expected to learn more about Dome site project tonight

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Leaders in Virginia Beach are expected to learn more about the dome deal.

City Manager Dave Hansen will go over an outline for the more than $330 million project to bring an entertainment complex to the city.

The complex would span from 18th to 20th streets between Pacific and Arctic avenues. City leaders and business owners hope it’ll bring more tourism dollars to the area.

Entertainer and Virginia Beach native Pharrell Williams has backed the multimillion-dollar project.

The city would pay $96 million for things like new parking garages and an entertainment venue.

Council still has to approve the terms of the agreement between the city and Venture Realty, the group behind the project. A vote and public hearing is set for next week.

10 On Your Side will be at the meeting today. Look for updates starting tonight at 4.
