NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Construction will begin this week on part of Denbigh Boulevard in Newport News.
Crews will replace the bridge that carries Denbigh over Interstate 64 and the CSX railroad. The bridge will be demolished and a new one put up to meet design standards.
The new bridge is expected to have four lanes, a raised median and sidewalks.
During construction, one lane in each direction will remain open for drivers.
Officials say work is expected to wrap by summer of 2021.
