PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – A U.S. Coast Guard crew medevaced an elderly woman from a cruise ship on Friday afternoon.
Coast Guard officials say Watchstanders in Portsmouth were called at 10:30 a.m. about a 83-year-old passenger who was suffering symptoms of renal failure.
The ship was 250 miles southeast of Elizabeth City at the time. A helicopter crew from Air Station Elizabeth City medevaced the woman, her family member and a nurse aboard.
Officials say the woman was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
