HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) – Many city and county offices and organizations will be closed or affected by the observance of Lee-Jackson Day on Friday, Jan. 18 and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 21.
Here is the full list of changes in your city or county:
All city facilities will be closed on Friday, Jan. 18 and Monday, Jan. 21. All community centers will be open on Jan. 18 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. for the after-school program.
The Chesapeake Visitors Center will be open normal hours on both days.
There will be NO CHANGES to trash and recycling collections. Normal pick-ups will be made on Friday; there is no regular collection on any Monday.
City Offices, City Schools, Yard Waste Site, Libraries, Courts, Health Dept./Clinics, Social Services, Clean City Commission, Treasures Office, and Charles H.Taylor Visual arts Center will be closed on Monday Jan. 21, for Martin Luther King Day.
Landfill, Golf Courses, Parks,Bluebird Gap Farm, Gosnolds Hope Park, Sandy Bottom Nature Park and Hampton History Museum will remain open Monday Jan. 19, 2019 for Martin Luther King Day.
No regular recycling, refuse, bulk trash or yard waste collection on Monday, Jan. 21.
All community and neighborhood centers will be closed Monday, Jan. 21, offices closed at Airpower Park but the outside will remain open.
No street sweeping on Monday Jan. 21. Make-up day will be Wednesday Jan. 23
ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY
County offices will be closed on Friday, Jan. 18 and Monday, Jan. 21.
JAMES CITY COUNTY
County Offices, Chickahominy Riverfront Park Store/Office, James City County Marine Store/Office, Little Creek Resorvior Store/Office, Solid Waste Office, and Courts will be closed Monday Jan. 21 for Martin Luther King Day.
James City County Recreation Center and Abram Frink Jr. Community Center, Freedom Park Store/Offices, and the Convenience Centers and Garbage Tranfer Station will remain open on Monday Jan. 21 for Martin Luther King Day.
There will be no changes to the curbside recycling pick up schedule.
Government offices, including City Hall, will be closed on Monday, Jan. 21 for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The closures include libraries and recreation centers.
The Consolidated Courts Complex, the Commissioner of the Revenue, the Treasurer’s Office and the Norfolk Department of Public Health will close on Friday, Jan. 18 for Lee-Jackson Day and Monday, Jan. 22 for Dr. Martin Luther King Day. These offices will also reopen at regular business hours on Tuesday, Jan. 22.

The Childrens Musuem of Virginia and the Portsmouth Colored Community Library Museum will remain open on Lee-Jackson Day and Martin Luther King Day

There will be no changes to the refuse collection schedule for Friday, January 18th. TFC Recycling will conduct their normal recycling collection routes on Friday, Jan. 18th.
Suffolk Joint Use Recreation Centers will close at 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18 following the closing of the afterschool programs. On Monday, January 21st, these centers will be open for youth league athletic practice only.
All Virginia Beach offices, Community receration centers, City parks and park facilities, Public Libraries, Public schools, and Courts will be closed on Monday Jan. 21 for Martin Luther King Day and will re open on Tuesday Jan. 22.
Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center and the Virginia Beach Animal Care & Adoption Center will remain open on Monfay Jan. 21 for Martin Luther King Day.
