CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – Chopper 10’s pilot was flying to an accident scene when he switched course after spotting a forest fire in Chesapeake.

The smoke was coming from an area in the 400 block of George Washington Highway. That’s off Route 17 near the Deep Creek City Park ball parks, south of the Sawyers Mill Community.

Fire Capt. Steve Bradley said three brush trucks equipped with water tanks responded to the scene.

The fire was contained to about four acres. No structures were at risk and no injuries reported, according to the Chesapeake Fire Dept.
