VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A child has died after being hit by a vehicle on private property in Virginia Beach on Tuesday afternoon, police announced.

The incident happened just after 2:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of Princess Anne Road, towards West Neck Road, on the Pungo side.

Police said a Nightingale was requested, but an ambulance ended up taking the child to the hospital, where he died.

Around 4:10 p.m., a tow truck removed a black GMC Denali SUV from the entrance of Cullipher Farm Market, WAVY’s Geena Arevalo reported.

The road was shut down in both directions at Princess Anne and West Neck, but later reopened.

Police say the case is under active investigation.
