CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY)- Chesapeake Police said Wednesday they arrested a suspect in the theft of a tip jar earlier this month. James Stephens was charged with petit larceny, according to officers.

The tips were for Pirates Cove restaurant hostess Savanah Nuzzo.  She’s five months pregnant and planned to buy a car seat with the money.  Restaurant staff said she just moved to the area with her husband who serves in the Navy.

Surveillance video from the store on Battlefield Boulevard showed the man holding a to-go menu at the host stand before he put it down, quickly grabbed the tip jar and ran out.
