Chesapeake house fire displaces 2

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Two people were displaced after their home caught fire Monday in Chesapeake.

Officials with the Chesapeake Fire Department said that firefighters were called to a house on Eaglestone Arch just after 1 p.m.

Arriving around 10 minutes later, crews found heavy smoke at the house.

A short video posted to Twitter showed the smoke billowing out of the house. An image from scene showed the back of the house charred from the flames.

Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control at 4:45 p.m. No major injuries were reported, but one firefighter was taken to the hospital for a twisted ankle.

Fire officials say the cause of the fire is under investigation and the two people displaced have made lodging arrangements.
