Charles City County man last seen in James City County found safe

CHARLES CITY, Va. (WAVY) — The Charles City County Sheriff’s Office has contacted WAVY-TV 10 with an update stating that  78-year-old Leon Whitehead has been found safe as of 3:20 p.m. Saturday.

Whitehead was considered endangered due to mental and/or physical health concerns. Authorities had described him as 5’5″, with grey hair and brown eyes, weighing around 172 pounds.

Sheriffs say they had received information that Whitehead had last been seen around 7 a.m. by a James City County Police Officer. Whitehead was looking for directions to James City County.

Whitehead was driving a black 1997 Ford F150 pickup truck with a distinct scenic painting of an eagle on the tailgate.
