Charges dismissed against teen previously accused of prom threat

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Alcohol and firearms charges against a teen previously accused in an alleged terror threat against Bayside High School’s prom have been dismissed.

The teen and 18-year-old Michael Coleman were charged for the alleged threat in June.

Virginia Beach police said the pair was planning a violent act at the prom at the Westin in Town Center.

Terror charges against both Coleman and the 17-year-old ended being withdrawn.

Charge of underage possession of alcohol and possession of firearm by a minor against the 17-year-old were dismissed after a trial on Wednesday.
