NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A teenage driver was charged after police say he lost control and crashed into a Newport News business Wednesday morning.
Newport News police said the incident happened at a LoanSmart off Jefferson Avenue. Officers were called to the scene around 10:50 a.m.
The investigation revealed the 17-year-old driver lost control on Jefferson Avenue and sideswiped the main portion of the building, before crashing into an unoccupied part of the business. One employee and two customers were in the main lobby at the time. One person complained of a headache.
Police said neither the driver nor his passenger were injured in the crash. Police charged the driver with a traffic violation.
