Can’t make NN police chief’s meeting at Piggly Wiggly? Two events set for next week


NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Newport News Police Chief Steve Drew is meeting with community members in the city’s Southeast community on Monday night at the new Piggly Wiggly. 

The meeting started at 5 p.m. in the grocery store’s community room, but don’t worry if you couldn’t make it. There’ll be two chances to meet with the city’s new chief to share concerns and ask questions next week. Both are open to the public. 

Central Precinct meeting

Wednesday, August 29, at 6:30 p.m.

1st Baptist Church’s sanctuary, 12716 Warwick Blvd. 

North Precinct meeting (Denbigh)

Thursday, August 30, at 7 p.m.

New Beech Grove Baptist Church, 361 Beechmont Drive

“We need input on how we can better serve our community. We also need your help – help in establishing a partnership that fosters safety and security where you live and play,” said Chief Drew, who officially became the city’s new police chief on July 2.
