PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A boy has been shot on the same Portsmouth block where a man was hit by a bullet just over 24 hours earlier.

Tuesday night’s shooting in the 1100 block of Virginia Avenue sent the juvenile male victim to the hospital with a non life-threatening gunshot wound to the hand.

The 911 call went in to police at 8:38 p.m.

A man was also shot about an hour later Monday night on Merrimac Drive in Portsmouth. His injuries are considered serious.

Monday’s shooting at Virginia Avenue left a man at the scene with a gunshot wound to the upper body. Moments after police found the first victim, another man walked into a nearby hospital, also with a gunshot wound to the upper body. Both are expected to recover.

There are no other details at this time. Stay with WAVY.com for updates.

Correction: An earlier version of this story erroneously stated there were two men struck at Virginia Avenue. It’s still unclear at this time if the Monday night shooting victims were hit in the same incident.
