Bond denied for man charged with murder of Isle of Wight boy

A man accused in the death of a 5-year-old Isle of Wight boy will stay behind bars until his trial.

A judge denied bond for Justin Cox on Wednesday.

Cox and his girlfriend, Jaye Hadley, are charged in the death of her 5-year-old.

Deputies say they beat Hadley’s son Alexander Robertson to death back in January.

In court, Cox’s family testified that he has three children and they’ve never seen him lay a hand on any of them.

His attorney said since the medical examiner has not yet determined the boy’s cause of death, his client shouldn’t be held behind bars.

Cox is due back in court in June.
