Bon Secours gets approval for new Suffolk hospital

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Bon Secours on Thursday it has received approval from the state’s health commissioner to build a new hospital in Suffolk.

The planned 75,000 square foot, two-story hospital would be built at the Bon Secours Health Center at Harbour View campus.

Bon Secours says it’s anticipating investing $77 million to develop the facility, which is being touted as an 18-bed, surgically-focused hospital wit four operating rooms.

The health system says a groundbreaking is expected to take place in early 2019, with construction lasting between 18 months and two years.
