SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A detached garage at a rural Suffolk home was heavily damaged after it went up in flames late Monday night, officials say.
Suffolk officials said fire and rescue units were called to the 2400 block of Skeetertown Road just after 11:15 p.m., and arrived on scene seven minutes later.
Battalion Chief Demetri Wilson said crews found a heavy fire at the garage — which was about 30 feet away from the house.
The homeowner was able to get vehicles out of the garage, officials said.
Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire, and had it under control within 15 minutes. Although the garage suffered heavy damage, the house was not impacted by the blaze.
No injuries were reported.
Officials said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
