Bear cub captured in Portsmouth neighborhood

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Portsmouth police officers helped catch a baby black bear on Tuesday.

The department tweeted out pictures of the cub that was spotted in the trees near a neighborhood, reportedly behind a 7-Eleven in the 3900 block of Victory Blvd.

Officers with Portsmouth Animal Control and Virginia Game and Inland Fisheries helped out.

They say the bear was not hurt and will be taken to his natural habitat.
