Beach man charged after dog dies of blunt force trauma

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A Virginia Beach man has been charged after a dog died earlier this month.

Virginia Beach police said someone called 911 on Dec. 6, reporting that a dog may have been killed by its owner. Animal Control officers responded to the 200 block of Cassady Avenue and found the dead dog. 

A necropsy was performed, and it was determined the dog died from blunt force trauma.

Animal control officers arrested and charged 35-year-old Michael L. Romba with felony animal cruelty.

The Navy confirms Romba is a sailor based out of Naval Station Norfolk.
