Authorities seek wanted violent sex offender with local ties

SMITHFIELD, Va. (WAVY) — Federal and state authorities are looking for a man who is wanted for failing to register as a sex offender. 

U.S. Marshals said in a news release 49-year-old Calvin Davis was convicted of aggravated sexual battery in 1998 and has ties to Hampton and Newport News. He is wanted by both Marshals and Virginia State Police.

The release said Davis is classified as a violent sex offender and most recently lived in Smithfield. A warrant for the failure to register was issued on March 29.

Davis is also wanted by the Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office on a contributing to the delinquency of a minor charge. The warrant on that charge was issued March 18, the release said.

There’s a $500 reward for information leading to Davis’ arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call the U.S. Marshals at 1-877-WANTED-2 (1-877-926-8332)  or email usms.wanted@usdoj.gov.
