NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A situation involving a barricaded man was resolved peacefully on Thursday afternoon, Norfolk police say.

An armed man, 47-year-old Bishop J. Jackson, was barricaded inside the home on Chesapeake Blvd. at Buckingham Street in the Estabrook neighborhood for several hours, after police say he “brandished” a gun at sheriff’s deputies during an eviction notice just after 9 a.m.

Traffic in the area was shut down during the police activity.

Police say Jackson was taken into custody without incident around 3:45 p.m. after negotiations and was charged with brandishing a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is being held in Norfolk City Jail without bond.
