HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — An armed suspect who barricaded himself inside a Hampton home early Monday morning is now in custody, police say.
Police said a call was received just before 1:30 a.m. about someone who was armed and disorderly on Frissell Street. A 35-year-old Hampton woman reported that a man was armed and point a gun at her and other.
After police arrived, the woman and others were were in a home were able to escape, while the man retreated back inside and refused to talk to officers.
Hampton SWAT and Crisis Negotiation teams were called to the scene, and they eventually established contact with the man — who was identified as 24-year-old Kwame Sekou Imo.
Police say Imo was peacefully taken into custody just after 5:30 a.m. No one was injured.
Imo was charged with brandishing a firearm and unlawful entry.
