KNOTTS ISLAND, N.C. (WAVY) — Three people were rescued after their 14-foot sailboat overturned Monday in the North Carolina Intracoastal Waterway.
It just happened just after 4:30 p.m.
Luckily, all 3 people were holding onto floatation devices and no one was hurt. The sailboat is registered in Virginia, according to Currituck officials.
A team towed the boat to nearby Sandy Point Resort and Campground on the North Carolina side of Knotts Island.
Crews from Currituck County and Virginia Beach were involved in the rescue, and the Coast Guard is investigating.
