NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Three people were displaced after a Newport News house was damaged in an early morning fire, officials say.

The Newport News Fire Department said in a tweet firefighters responded to the 2700 block of Oak Avenue — between 27th and 28th streets — for a working fire.

Dispatchers said a call about the fire was received just after 5 a.m.

Responding units found smoke at the front of the home, according to a second tweet. The fire was contained to the room where it started.

No one was injured in the fire, officials said.
