NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — More than 2,000 people were without power and traffic lights were reported out east of downtown Thursday afternoon.

2865 customers were without power as of 5:15 p.m. The outages started before 4 p.m. and power was reported restored around 5:25 p.m.

The outages stretched from I-264 near Harbor Park up to the Neon District and Young Terrace, and east to the Bruce’s Park and Spartan Village areas.

Viewers reported traffic lights were out in the area of Virginia Beach Blvd. and Tidewater Drive, and Church St. and Brambleton Ave.

Bonita Harris with Dominon Energy said it’s unclear how power was lost, but it may have been an equipment failure.
