CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Two dogs died and five people were displaced after following a fire at a Chesapeake house Monday morning.

Fire department officials said firefighters were called to 4000 block of Charlton Court around 8:15 a.m.

The house’s five residents – four adults and one child – were home and made it out safely after they noticed smoke from the fire, officials said.

Responding units found an active fire in the home’s attic and extinguished it quickly.

Officials said the displaced family is making lodging arrangements with relatives.
