2 dogs, 2 people displaced in Newport News house fire

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Two dogs and two people were displaced after a fire damaged a Newport News house late Thursday night.

The Newport News Fire Department said in a Facebook post crews were called to the 1st block of Magruder Road, off Jefferson Avenue and Main Street, around 11p.m.

Arriving four minutes later, firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the home. The post said firefighters searched the structure, but found no one home.

The house was damaged by smoke and flames, and has been condemned.

Officials said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
