VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Two men have been arrested after police say officers were led on a chase from Virginia Beach to Norfolk overnight.
Virginia Beach police said an officer spotted a vehicle that had been involved in an earlier case that involved a firearms violation on Pacific Avenue, near the Oceanfront.
Police said the officer tried to stop the vehicle at I-264 West and Independence Boulevard interchange, but the driver refused to stop.
The suspect kept going through the Lake Edwards area and then got back on the interstate.
Virginia State Police assisted Virginia Beach in getting the vehicles stopped near Norview Avenue in Norfolk, where three people inside the car were detained.
Virginia Beach police said of those people were arrested and charged.
The driver, 26-year-old Alanzo Thoma Owens-Smith, was charge with eluding police and driving on a suspended/revoked license.
One of the passengers, 26-year-old Jaquon Deontay Cowell, was charged with brandishing a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, stemming from the incident near the Oceanfront.
