10 hurt after city truck collides with HRT bus in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A city dump truck collided with a Hampton Roads Transit bus Wednesday morning in Norfolk, injuring 10 people.

Dispatch tells WAVY.com the crash happened at 26th Street and Waverly Way just after 9 a.m.

Images from the scene showed an HRT bus with heavy front-end damage. The City of Norfolk truck was was off the side of the road — appearing to have crashed through a gate following the collision.

Police said in a tweet that 10 people were taken to area hospitals following the crash. All of their injuries were not life-threatening, according to the tweet.

A police spokesperson said five people in truck — a driver and four passengers — and at least five people on the bus were injured.
