What’s Happening: ODU Monologues, Grit Fitness Festival, LEGO Shipbuilding

ODU Monologues: Friday, February 1 – Saturday, February 2 

Old Dominion University students, faculty and staff will present spoken word pieces, dances and monologues on the topics of sexuality, #MeToo, self-empowerment and love. All the proceeds raised will support YWCA South Hampton Roads to aid women and girls. 

When: Show begins at 7 p.m. 
Where: University Theatre 
Cost: $5 Admission 

Grit Fitness Festival: Saturday, February 2 – Sunday, February 3 

You’ll see almost 400 hundred athletes from Hampton Roads, Richmond and North Carolina put their strength and agility to the test at this competition. Events range from an Olympic weight lifting competition to Grit’s toughest mile, where participants must get through a series of obstacles in a certain amount of time. 

When: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. 
Where: Hampton Roads Convention Center 
Cost: $10 Admission 

Lego Shipbuilding: Saturday, February 2  

Guests will able to craft STEM-based design plans to build ships using 200 or more dry docks! They can also enter their LEGO ship in the builders’ contest. If you’re not building a ship, you can check out hands-on robotic demonstrations and professional LEGO display models. 

When:  10 a.m. – 4 p.m. 
Where: Half Moone Cruise and Celebration Center 
Cost: Free Admission
