NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Staff Sgt. Tim Chambers, also known as the The Saluting Marine, will board the USS Wisconsin in Norfolk on Thursday, May 16.

The event is part of Chambers’ Salute Across the America tour, where he travels across the country “honoring the importance of sacrifice, courage and patriotism” of the military.

From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., you can meet The Saluting Marine at 1 Waterside Dr, next to the Nauticus Museum.

The event is free, but you will have to sign up through their Facebook event page and be able to show your ticket in order to board the USS Wisconsin.

Chambers has traveled to more than 20 major cities across the U.S. paying tribute to our military veterans which leads up to his annual salute in DC for Memorial Day weekend, for 17 years straight.

The Saluting Marine’s visit also coincides with the Battleship Wisconsin’s 75th Anniversary this year.
