VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — With Pharrell Williams’ upcoming Something in the Water festival in Virginia Beach emphasizing everything that is Hampton Roads and Virginia, it only made sense that the event would have its own locally-brewed beer.

The festival organizers chose Norfolk-based Smartmouth Brewing Co. to create the limited edition brew, Sommerfling Hefeweizen, a hefeweizen-style beer in 16-ounce matte-silver cans. The can features the font of the event’s logo and “Virginia Beach, VA,” and will be available wherever alcohol is sold at the event.

Smartmouth, which also has a location at 32nd Street and Atlantic Avenue in Virginia Beach, recently made national headlines for their Lucky Charms cereal-inspired beer, Saturday Morning IPA.

“For the first time, we are harnessing that energy, bringing the great minds of our time and the biggest brands in the world to this great place, and letting the inspiration flow and well deserved opportunities unfold,” Pharrell said of the festival. “Virginia needs this right now and the world will see what we Virginians have known all along: there really is SOMETHING IN THE WATER.”

The 3-day festival runs from April 26-28 in Virginia Beach. To read all of WAVY’s coverage of the event, click here
