NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A two-time Olympic gold medalist with the USA Women’s National Team will serve as the grand marshal for the 31st annual PrideFest.

Hampton Roads Pride announced Angela Hucles Mangano as the festival’s grand marshal on Friday.

Mangano, a Virginia Beach native, played soccer at the University of Virginia and is a member of the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame. She was a member of the 2004 and 2008 gold medal-winning teams.

Cole Werkheiser, president of Hampton Roads Pride, said in a statement, “Angie Hucles has always been a true, homegrown role model on and off the field; after winning 2 gold medals, she has gone on to become an accomplished speaker on topics of equality, anti-bullying, and the power of sport.”

Hampton Roads Pride also announced Friday that dance music pioneer Crystal Waters will headline the festival along with JoJo.

PrideFest is scheduled for June 22 at Town Point Park in downtown Norfolk. More information about the festival can be found here.
