What’s Happening: Virginia CaribFest, Paddle on York River and Farmer’s Market Hoedown

Virginia CaribFest: Saturday, August 18

Groove to the sounds of Kes the Band, Patrice Roberts, David Rudder and more. Indulge in flavorful dishes from food vendors. And you can’t miss the parade! It’s a celebration of not only the Caribbean culture, but a celebration of cultures from across the globe. 

When: Noon – 10 p.m.
Where: Town Point Park
Cost: Admission $10 and Up

Paddle on York River: Saturday, August 18

Along the York River or surrounding wetlands, you may see a variety of wild creatures. The park is rich in resources and the park staff will teach you ways to protect them. All you need to bring is a positive attitude and a willingness to learn! The park provides you with a paddle and your choice of a canoe or a kayak.

When: Paddle begins at 10 a.m.
Where: York River State Park
Cost: Registration $6 and Up

Farmer’s Market Hoedown: Friday, August 17​​​

Line dance the night way in the market’s center circle. Guests typically arrive early for dinner at the Princess Anne County Grill for the Friday Night Meatloaf special. Occasionally, vendors will be onsite selling home goods. Feel free to bring your lawn chair so you have a place to rest in between all the dancing.

When: 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Where: Virginia Beach Farmer’s Market
Cost: Free Admission
