PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Not all fires are bad, so state and federal agencies will conduct what is called a prescribed burn or a controlled burn. The Virginia Department of Forestry held a prescribed burn last week in Suffolk, and they were nice enough to give us the inside track on why these fires are beneficial to our natural environments.
