NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Cat Team 7 is a nonprofit group that works to get feral cats and kittens off of Norfolk Naval Station.
They have teamed up with the Norfolk SPCA and the military installation because this is a huge problem. There are an estimated 200 felines hiding under and around rocks, in bushes, tall grasses and dumpsters.
Caitlyn McIntosh started up Cat Team 7 three years ago when she could no longer ignore the plight of these animals. Most are starving, many are injured and a large number simply cannot survive.
She and her volunteers, like Jessica Carson, catch young kittens when there are foster homes to care for them and full grown cats can be caught if outdoor adopters are available. Farms, houses with large lots, even wineries are perfect places to relocate the cats.
Both are desperately needed – fosters and forever homes. If you would like to connect with Cat Team 7, visit https://www.catteam7.com
