NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Kylee Hartman-Caballero of Newport News was born with a rare eye condition called Iris Colobomas.
Doctors told her parents there were many things Kylee would be unable to do because of the defect. It prevented her from certain activities growing up, but she used that as motivation.
Her mom, Sabrina Hartman, knew early on that Kylee was bright. She encouraged her to be great, despite her vision difficulties and Kylee has done just that.
She graduated from Woodside High School with a 4.4 average, she was awarded a scholarship to the College of William & Mary where she is majoring in Neuroscience and she is on track to become a Pediatric Neurologist. Her hope is to help children much like herself.
