Va. Beach EMS captain charged in alleged domestic incident

UPDATE March 9, 2020: Rajeeb Islam was found guilty on both charges Friday and sentenced to six months on each charge. All time was suspended w with two years on good behavior.


VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A Virginia Beach EMS captain has been charged with assault in connection to an alleged domestic incident.

Police arrested Rajeeb Islam on Monday, and now faces charges of assault on a family member, and attempted malicious wounding.

Islam has been with Virginia Beach EMS for for 10 years and is the chairman of the Virginia Beach Human Rights Commission. He will be put on administrative duty once he is arraigned on the charges.

Virginia Beach EMS officials say the alleged incident happened off duty. Police confirmed the alleged incident was domestic in nature.
