HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — On a Sunday in late January, roughly 50 volunteers came together under the WeLoveU Foundation to clean up a community. Together, the group works to clean the streets of Hampton and provide a cleaner environment for surrounding citizens.

At 10:30 a.m., the participants paced a one-mile stretch along North King Street collecting trash and debris. By the end of the day, they filled 200 bags of trash… equaling 7,000 pounds. Last year, the WeLoveU Foundation collected over 145 trash bags full of litter from Central Park alone.

The efforts are a part of the WeLoveU’s Clean WORLD Movement, a global campaign that raises awareness about local environmental protection.

This cleanup was in partnership with the Hampton Clean City Commission and the Hampton Police Department.
