VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) is rolling out a new way for you to pay for your trip on the Virginia Beach Wave Trolleys. Riders can now purchase tickets through HRT’s new mobile app GoHRT.

Mobile ticketing allows more flexibility when purchasing tickets because it can be done anywhere and no cash is needed. Through the app, users can purchase $2 One Way tickets, $4.50 One Day tickets, and $8 Three Day tickets for the Virginia Beach Wave Trolley. The app does not currently offer discounted fares. Customers can still continue to purchase paper tickets at any of the authorized outlets.

The GoHRT app is available for both Apple and Android users. Mobile ticketing through the app is currently a pilot program for the VB Wave Trolley. The only trolley routes participating in mobile ticketing are 30 and 31. Route 30 runs along Atlantic Avenue and 31 is the Aquarium and Campground Shuttle to and from the oceanfront. HRT says they hope to expand mobile ticketing to across there entire system in the future. For more information and how to download the app and mobile ticketing you can visit GoHRT here.
